Camp Glisson is proud to have partnered with Birmingham UMC in Alpharetta for our first Day Camp program.
Under the direction of Camp Glisson staff members, the program was led by the Glisson Leaders-in-Training (LIT's).

Campers were divided into living groups, just as they would be at Camp Glisson.
These campers thoroughly enjoyed having a summer camp experience so close to home.

Having lots of outdoor, wooded running-around room helped facilitate the activities, and made it feel almost like being in Dahlonega.
Campers even had a chance to try their hand at archery, with safety training and close supervision by the Glisson staff.

Campers learned how to handle archery equipment safely, how to retrieve their arrows from the targets safely, and how important it is to follow the instructions of their facilitators.
We included as many traditional Glisson activities as possible, including arts-and-crafts and hiking as well.

Activities around the fire pit were also included, just as campers would find at Camp Glisson, although daytime temperatures in the 90's meant that actual campfires were out of the question.
The absolute highlight of the week for most campers was the trip to visit Camp Glisson. Campers enjoyed creek hikes and splashing around at Cane Creek Falls - under the watchful eyes of their counselors.

Not only did they spend time in Cane Creek, but they also swam in the new Glisson swimming pool. This was probably the hottest week of June, and the enjoyment of being at Camp Glisson was heightened by the fact that the campers were in cool water most of the day.
You never know just how cold the water in Cane Creek is until you sit down in it!
Here's a look at some of the faces of our Day Camp participants.

Many of these campers have already told us they are planning to participate again next year - and several are planning to come to Camp Glisson to spend a week with us also because they had such a great experience.
Campers enjoyed the fun with their fellow campers and with their counselors.

Just like at Glisson, campers learned about God's love for them while enjoying fun activities in His presence in the midst of His wonderful creation.
Camp Glisson is grateful to the members and staff of Birmingham UMC for allowing us to reach out to their children with the message of God's love, challenging activities and fun which have been synonymous with Camp Glisson for 83 years now.
