The origin of the name "Echoes from Camp"
(credit to Jennifer J. Richardson, author of the book entitled "Holy Dirt", for this background information)
During Camp Glisson Day festivities on May 20, 1961, a sermon was delivered by Mrs. John Moore in tribute to the Reverend and Mrs. Fred Glisson as Rev. Glisson was retiring from the Methodist ministry. The sermon was entitled, "Echoes from Camp Glisson", and in it, Mrs. Moore stated:
"... This camp bears your name because of the unselfish lives you have lived among all of us who have come here to thrill at the beauty of the falls, to walk the paths and discover new things in God's out-of-doors, to study, to work and to play, and above all to be drawn closer to Him who has created this beauty spot among the hills."
