See how much fun our campers are having this summer

- A group of Outpost campers preparing for their mountain biking trip.

- A dance interest group.

- Boys love to look through the brush to see if they might find some exotic kind of north Georgia mountain wildlife living in there.

- Outpost campers taking a break at the dining pavilion.

- Campers enjoying the cool water of Lake Hale after finishing paddling around in kayaks.

- A camper spins pottery on one of our electric wheels.

- The Sparrowwood campers and staff celebrated Christmas in June.

- The meadow at the Outpost offers much more running-around room now that we have replaced many of the platform tents with the larger Adirondack sleeping shelters. The platform tents had been located throughout the meadow, and now the Adirondack shelters have been built along the fringes of the meadow amid the trees, to keep them cooler in the shade and open up the meadow for activities.

- Two campers work together to traverse the "Flying V", one of the new high elements on our challenge course.

- The "Leap of Faith" is another of our high elements. Climbing to the top of the pole is the first challenge. Standing on top of the pole is the next. Taking the leap from the standing position is the true test of faith.

- Only the swimsuit styles have changed. For generations, boys have enjoyed playing in the cool waters of Cane Creek.

- Our low elements course allows living groups to work on supporting and encouraging each other through challenges which are at ground level.

- Outpost campers and counselors develop an especially close bond - due in part to the close-knit nature of the smaller groupings and the experience of camping out in God's creation without any of the distractions and disruptions of life back home. "No phones, no lights, no motorcars - not a single luxury".

- It must be a photo taken on Sunday afternoon just after arrival if both bunks are still made!

- During Sunday arrival, camper Dads become the pack mules - carrying the lion's share of the load, while the campers struggle with pillows and stuffed animals.

- Campers strike a pose outside their cabin. Our assumption is that the two "threes" added together make-up the cabin number (G-6).

- The girls in Ivie 3 also have some pride in their abode.

- Staff member Jake Dixon with camper who is apparently very well-known. If the shirt says he's famous, it must be true!

- A living group completing a trust walk, a team-building activity in which the blindfolded campers must trust the counselor at the front of the line to lead them safely along through verbal directions.

- Campers Mitchell English and Beau Watson standing in the area we refer to as the "Quad", near the new location of the camp store. These two were happy to be at camp, but not very happy to have their photo taken.

- Our first All-Camp activity each week is Sunday night at the Amphitheater. The new deck built for us by Swofford Construction has transformed this event each week - giving us much more space for programming, worship and fun!

- It's true. Life really is good at the Glisson Outpost. In the background, you can see the dining pavilion to the right, and to the left is part of the Outpost vegetable garden which campers are helping to tend throughout the summer.

- The fire pit which was constructed in the middle of Swofford Landing at the Amphitheater provides a very solemn and serene atmosphere for evening worship.

- Another look at a living group on a trust walk - one of the first team-building activities for our living groups after arrival on Sunday afternoon.

- A group of boys hanging out with their counselors Gary and Maddox in cabin B-2.

- They're boys. It's shaving cream. They're having fun with a relatively new Glisson tradition which our campers call "Messy Games".

- Each week on Monday, Sparrowwood campers enjoy a trip to the Outpost for dinner with the Outpost campers.

- Sparrowwood counselor Laura Wilcox and one of her Sparrowwood campers enjoy a laid-back Monday evening at the Outpost.

- The entire living group got in on the shaving cream action during "Messy Games".

- The headbands are a clear giveaway - these are outpost guys.

- Girls tend to be a little more symmetrical when they horse-around with their counselors.

- Photos of camp friends splashing around at the base of Cane Creek Falls. It's been occurring for 83 years now.

- A middle-high and elementary camper pose at the sidewalk which meanders past Cabin G-9.

- Mandy is pictured here with some of her campers.

- Colby poses with her campers in their Ivie Lodge room. All cabins hold 6 campers per counselor. Most rooms in Ivie also hold 6, but Colby's room is an exception which actually hold 7 campers.

- Courtney leans in to get in the photo while a camper demonstrates the flexibility of a slinky on the Dining Hall steps.

- The Dining Hall porch has always been a popular gathering place for campers during free time and while waiting for the dinner bell to ring.

- If there is any one feature of camp which is loved and revered by all generations, it's Cane Creek Falls.

- There's always one who figures out the camera is preparing to take the shot - just in time to ham it up.

- A group of kayakers in Lake Hale, with Swofford Landing and the Amphitheater in the background.

- Here at Camp Glisson, we've created our own version of polo in the Holland Building.

- An all-girl living group starts a getting-to-know-you game on the Dining Hall porch. Because we generally have a larger number of girls than boys in the typical summer camp session, some living groups are made-up of all girls.

- It's not unusual these days to see 100% of any group of campers shod in colorful "Crocs". Also, the peace sign seems to have re-emerged from the 1970's as a very common photographic pose.

- Swimmers stop to pose for the camera while some raindrops begin to fall. You can see where the individual raindrops have hit the previously dry pool deck, making it look almost like beach sand.

- Our new rock slide has been a favorite feature of the new swimming center for many campers. Here you see campers lined-up in essentially the same place they would have lined-up for the high dive back in the 1970's and early 1980's.

- Night swims have met with rave reviews. Our new swimming center has much better lighting than our old pool had.

- Thanks to all our supporters who pulled together and helped us build this swimming center that our campers love so much!

- Our Sparrowwood campers love this new pool almost as much as they love their counselors.

- The French judge only gave him a 4.3 for technical merit, but he absolutely stuck the landing.

- Life-long friendships are formed in the midst of the loving, supportive, Christian community of the Glisson summer camp experience.

- Sparrowwood counselor Lindsey with two of her Sparrowwood campers.

- Campout is a long-time Glisson tradition for Village campers. Groups cook their own "hobo dinners" over the fire, then sleep under the stars and wake up covered in mountain dew (the natural kind, not the carbonated variety).

- Kayaking, and floating, on Lake Hale

- More fun at Cane Creek Falls

- Campers enjoy placing meaningful messages on the sidewalk at the Dining Hall with sidewalk chalk.

- "Did you say turn toward my left, or your left?"

- A slider in motion

- Camp Glisson friendships are special
