Celebration is a time for rejoicing about the week that was just spent at camp. We have two Celebrations each Friday, one just for the campers and another one when the parents arrive to pick up their kids.

Camper Celebration is a wild and exciting time in the Holland Building! We start it off with some loud songs and motions and get the campers pumped up. Then we get to watch the Dance and Drama interest groups to their performances. We also get to see a recording of the Glisson Action News program. These three groups always do a fantastic job and they love showing their work to the rest of camp. Next, the Sparrowwood campers receive awards and their camp T-shirts. The Holland Building erupts in loud cheers each time a Sparrowwood camper is called to the stage.  The last presentation at Camper Celebration is for the Clean Cabin Award! Everyone is in anticipation as the winners are announced, and the members of the cleanest cabins get a great prize!

Parent Celebration is designed to be much calmer than Camper Celebration, but often that is not the case. When you have about three hundred campers, one hundred staff, and at least three hundred parents and friends, the Holland Building can get pretty crazy! Also, it gets extremely hot in there. Be prepared to be sweating inside the building.

Parents are welcomed into the Holland Building while the campers are eating supper in the Dining Hall. You will be sitting in chairs in the back, and all the campers and counselors will sit on the floor at the front. When the campers come in, you will get to hear them sing some camp songs and watch them do the motions. Next, you will hear from David Schnitzer, the Camp Glisson Program Director, and from Russell Davis, the Camp Glisson Director. They will be brief so we can get you out of the heat! Then you get to watch the weekly video, produced by our summer media team. The video includes footage from the entire week and gives you a great taste of what it was like for your kids at camp. After the video, the counselors have something special to do for your campers. Then it is time to sign out and you can finally go get your child and hear about their awesome week at Glisson!
