Communion at Camp Glisson is a very special time. The entire camp- Village, Sparrowwood, and Outpost- gathers together in the chapel on Friday afternooon. Everyone has to sit close in order to fit. Nobody seems to mind, however, because the campers and counselors have become an intimate family. It is a blessing to participate in fellowship, worship, prayer, and communion together.
The Village T.I.R. and the Outpost Guide (the two pastors for the week) say a small devotion and then bless the elements. Then the pastors serve the bread and juice to the Glisson support staff, who then serve the counselors. The campers get to see the staff share communion with one another, and then they get to go up with their small group to be served by their counselors. It is truly a beautiful exchange between God, the counselor, and the camper.
