Sparrowwood

Sparrowwood is an integral part of the Glisson experience designed especially for campers with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. Campers are cared for by trained counselors with a 1:2 counselor-to-camper ratio.

Sparrowwood is not a separate aspect of camp, but rather a vital and cherished part of the Glisson ministry. Sparrowwood campers are a part of our Village program and enjoy most of the same activities that our Village campers do. In fact, most Sparrowwood campers integrate with Village living groups.

Sparrowwood campers also enjoy multiple daily interactions with Village campers and staff through meals, chapel, integration, living group activities, and all-camp functions. Outpost campers and staff invite Sparrowwood to a barbeque dinner once a week -- an amazing time for all who are there!

Glisson's mission for Sparrowwood is to show God’s great love to all of our campers. In all we do, we pray that each person involved -- parents, caregivers, campers, and staff -- will be touched by God's love.

Camper Highlights

Their counselors!  Sparrowwood counselors receive specialized training on how to care for campers with a range of different disabilities. They are dedicated to keeping campers safe and involved in the many exciting activities each week.

Age Groups

  • Mini-Camp: 2nd-6th graders
  • Youth: 4th-8th graders
  • Senior High: 9th-12th graders
  • Young Adult: Ages 18-39
  • Adult: Ages 40+

Horse Program

The Horse Program is available during Weeks 2 (June 3-July 8) and 6 (July 1-6) for the Youth and Senior High age group.  During these weeks, campers have the opportunity to ride trained horses under the supervision of a professional horse trainer.  If you have any questions, please email the Program Team or call the front office (706-864-6181).
