Glisson Day Camp @ Birmingham UMC
Glisson has been offering quality camp ministry programming at its location just north of Dahlonega for 85 years. In the Summer of ’08 Glisson developed the Day Camp program to make the same quality camping experience available to even more youth--in this case, children in the Alpharetta/Milton area. Our hope is that this program will be a traveling version of the fun and growth campers have experienced at our Dahlonega site for decades.
The Day Camp ministry is a partnership with Birmingham United Methodist church that connects Glisson’s wealth of camping experience with a fellowship of Christian people who know your community. Our experienced camp staff, trained day camp counselors, and American Camp Association-accredited program offer new and exciting possibilities for personal and spiritual growth. In addition to the directors and counselors provided by Glisson, Day Camp will be supported by volunteer members of the Birmingham UMC congregation.
What Happens at Day Camp
Campers will be placed in small groups led by trained counselors. These groups will plan their own activities and participate in whole-group activities that include:
- group games
- arts & crafts
- nature exploration
- archery (rising 4th - 6th grades)
- belayed tree climbing (rising 4th - 6th)
- singing, worship and devotion time each day
- swim and creek hike one day at Glisson

Dates, Rates, Registration
- Dates: Week 1: Mon-Fri, June 6 - 10, 2011
Week 2: Mon-Fri, June 13 - 17, 2011
- Location: Birmingham UMC in Alpharetta and a day trip to Camp Glisson in Dahlonega
- Grades: Rising 1st - 6th grades
- Rate: The Day Camp fee is $175 per camper for one week. The fee for both weeks is $175 the first week and $150 the second. A $50 deposit by credit card is required upon registration (non-refundable).

- Daily Schedule: Campers will need to bring a sack lunch and water bottle to Day Camp each day. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
