2010 Summer Staff Mission Trip to Lineville, AL
Sunday, December 19th - Wednesday, December 22nd
On December 19th, seven 2010 Glisson summer staff members traveled to Lineville, Alabama to serve a growing ministry called Servants in Faith and Technology (SIFAT). SIFAT is an international organization with a nearby campus in Alabama, just under 3 hours from Dahlonega. SIFAT offers summer camp, year-round group retreats, and also sends groups on international mission trips to third-world countries such as Ecuador, Bolivia, Uganda, and Zambia. SIFAT’s mission is twofold: 1.) to educate Americans on global issues and provide opportunities for them to be personally involved, and 2.) to teach the poor in developing nations practical skills to help them meet the basic needs of their communities in Christ’s name.
With a growing summer camp and year-round programming, SIFAT’s current needs lie primarily in restoring and updating their facilities. Our small group from Glisson worked specifically in the offices at the Alabama campus painting the bottom-level of the building. The group painted individual offices and hallways all day Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, the group toured the campus, learned more about SIFAT’s different programs, and visited the Village Store. After a long day’s work, the Glisson group was able to relax and fellowship in the SIFAT’s International House where they stayed during their visit. The House came with a view overlooking the lake, numerous bunk beds, and a kitchen where they cooked and ate meals together.
SIFAT is an amazing organization, and it was exciting to see what the Lord is doing through their ministry and mission efforts. We were blessed and thrilled to partner with them during the Christmas season and serve their needs so they can go out and serve others.
