Retreats

Founded in 1925 along the banks of Cane Creek, Camp Glisson has for many years provided a quiet place for children, youth and adults to hear and respond to God's call on their lives - and to strengthen their relationship with Him.   People of all ages have felt their faith affirmed and strengthened in this Holy place.

Located just outside of Dahlonega Georgia on nearly 400 acres, Camp Glisson provides the perfect setting for people of all ages to escape the increasingly competitive demands on their lives.  As a result of retreat experiences, people return home with a heightened awareness of God’s redeeming grace in Jesus Christ, and are able to be more responsible disciples of God’s creation and the world community.  They enter into local church communities inspired, renewed and dedicated to faithful service.

Where To Stay

Glisson offers two very distinct retreat lodging options, available August through mid-May each year:

  1. Village Cabin ExteriorVillage:   Village Camp offers a traditional retreat experience where your group sleeps in dormitory-style accommodations --- either Village cabins, Ivie Lodge or Sparrowwood Lodge.  Meals are served in the Dining Hall.  Multiple indoor, air-conditioned meeting and worship spaces are available.  For more information on facilities available in Village Camp, follow this link: Reatreat Facilities


  2. Outpost:   If you want your group to "rough it", the Outpost campsite, located a Outpost Field Viewshort hike from the Village, presents an opportunity for a wilderness retreat experience.  Your group sleeps in open-air Adirondack shelters or participants can pitch their own tents.  Meals are prepared by retreat participants over fire-heated cooking facilities.  A covered Dining Pavilion provides a sheltered area for mealtimes.  Our covered, open-air chapel offers a serene worship setting.  Running water is provided, including flush toilets and cold-water showers.  Numerous hiking trails offer a variety of wilderness learning, leadership and worship opportunities.

What To Do

Optional programming for retreat groups include:
  • Our multi-event Challenge Course presents excellent opportunities for group dynamics, communication, and team-building exercises.  These activities are facilitated by trained Glisson staff.
  • Multiple locations for group activities, worship and campfires including Lake Hale Amphitheater and various campsites.
  • Cane Creek Falls offers a tranquil location to be still and appreciate the power of God's nature -- located in Village Camp, a short hike from the Outpost.
  • Off-site excursions can be facilitated for your group, including kayaking, rappelling, backpacking and hiking.
